GI Map Test FAQ’s

It is not essential to stop vitamins and minerals before doing the test. Also it is not essential to stop probiotics, digestive enzymes or anti-microbial herbs but remember these supplements may influence your test results – so to get a baseline of your where you are at I recommend stopping these supplements for 4-7 days before testing.

Antibiotics will influence your test results, I recommend waiting 2 weeks after antibiotics before doing the GI Map test to allow the microbiome to normalize after testing. If you have taken antibiotics specifically for a Helicobacter pylori infection I recommend waiting 4 weeks before testing.

I would continue to eat your normal diet. The GI Map test assesses the gliadin IgA marker for an immune response against gluten so if you normally eat gluten or occasionally eat gluten I would make sure you eat some in the days leading up to the test.

However if you already know that gluten is a problem for you continue to avoid.

Yes you can, I recommend higher doses of magnesium citrate as a safe way to get the bowels moving along with being well hydrated, but if you need to take something stronger that is ok.

Yes you can – it sounds like this test will be excellent to help understand the underlying cause of your diarrhea.

I don’t have set protocols and the treatment plan is going to be based around the results and your symptoms. It will usually include diet changes, supplements, stress management and other lifestyle changes to optimize your results.

I would rarely be recommending antibiotics or pharmaceutical medications.

If your coach or nutritionist has recommended that you do the GI Map test they maybe able to help guide you through the results and help with a treatment plan.
